Let the blood of ISIS, the magical powers of ISIS and the words of power of ISIS be mighty to protect and keep us safe.   Egyptian Book of the Dead

A Shrine To The
GODDESS ISIS

"Come to me, Come to me,
for my speech hath in it the power to protect and it possesseth life.
I am ISIS, the Goddess.
I am the Lady of Words of Power."

Egyptian Book of the Dead

According to Egyptian mythology and Heliopolitan genealogy, ISIS is the daughter of the God Geb (Earth) and Goddess Nut (Sky). She is the 4th of 5 children of the union of the God/Goddess. Her siblings are: Osiris, Horus, Set and Nephthys.

Her life is one of tradgedy and triumph, perserverance and an endless, committed love. As a young woman, ISIS desired to increase her magic powers. To accomplish this, she devised a plan to trick the great God Ra into divulging his secret name, and thus surrendering his powers to her.

ISIS went on to marry her brother, Osiris, King of the Earth. After Geb and Nut abdicated the throne of Egypt,  ISIS and Osiris took over the reign. Osiris was subsequently killed by his jealous brother Set, who disposed of the body in a casket by dropping it into the Nile.

ISIS searched for her husband's body and with the help of Phonecian Queen Astarte, was able to locate it. By using magic words taught to her by Thoth, she created light with her hair, turned herself into a kite and with the wind from her wings, brought Osiris back to life, long enough to conceive Horus with him.

Set would not surrender the throne that he obtained with Osiris' death. He located Osiris' body and cut it up into 14 pieces which he scattered throughout Egypt. When ISIS discovered what happened, she once again searched for his body, this time in parts, with the help of her sister, Nephthys. ISIS found and joined all the body parts together except for his penis, which she had to replace with a clay model.

ISIS performed the first Rites of Embalming and the Rite of Rebirth, giving Osiris eternal life. Osiris ascended to Duat, the abode of the dead, where he became Lord of the Dead.

Being a model husband and father, Osiris visited his family often. Meanwhile,  Horus was hidden from Set by ISIS, fearing Set would do harm to his competition for the throne. Once Horus was old and strong enough to avenge his father he took revenge upon Set and claimed the throne which was rightfully his by birth. On that day, the Day of Awakening, all the tombs shall open and the just dead shall live again as we do, and all sorrow shall pass away forever.
